as if I had been deceived. It may have been a combination of deception and self- deception. So, after 6 years we called it time and separated. I moved back into my unit at Coogee, refurbished it and my mindset. At 66 years of age I was destined to a single life with no more relationships, all too hard. It had been a tough 6 years.
Eighteen months prior to our separation I was living part-time on my boat down at the Royal Motor Yacht Club at Point Piper. This was a boat that I had purchased in 2003 when I was considering changing my vocation and becoming a charter boat skipper. It was one of those ideals that Jenny and I talked about, except for Jenny it was only talk. I took it more seriously, completed my coxswain training which would enable me to skipper a commercial vessel and searched for a vessel in survey. I found the ideal boat which was a 42 foot trawler style vessel known as “Mainship 350” built in Fort Lauderdale, USA, a beautiful modern day long range comfort cruiser with all the bells and whistles, it was not in survey, however it was built to survey. I never did charter it, but I owned her until 2010 and it was one of the highlights in my life. I named her “MaxSea.”
With Tango friends 2007
I took up dancing again as a result of meeting a couple who were teaching Argentinian Tango. I became a regular at their dance venues which became a great diversion and opportunity to enjoy and learn something new as well as meet new people. I loved the music, and the dance was very challenging, more mentally than physically.
