My work life also took a turn of events, 2001 saw my retirement from the partnership with Anthony. My work life was tapering off and as I was not making the contribution that was necessary and fair to Anthony, I thought it best to change direction. I took on more work through AIBB; 2003 saw the introduction of CPD (Continual Professional Development) training through the regulator Fair trading. AIBB was appointed as one of the training providers which created the partnership between AIBB and TAFE.
I had been involved in education and training since the inception of AIBB. I was asked to provide training workshops at TAFE which required me to complete the Certificate IV in workplace training and the TAFE diploma in Business Broking. All this involved re-writing workshops and presentations. My business transactions were continuing periodically mainly because of referrals from the business community.
Life took on a new dimension, I felt relieved and happy to be where I was to enjoy what I was doing without too many expectations. I had enough to keep me busy.
When it was least expected all that was about to change, I was a regular at the Friday night Milonga held at the Hakoah Club in Bondi. A Milonga is the Argentinian name for a tango social. It was an event that I really looked forward to and enjoyed, meeting new people and friends, learning challenging dance routines; I could not have been happier at long last.
In March 2007 I met a lady whose name was Caroline Stalbow known as Carrie who happened to be Jewish, originated from the UK, accomplished in Latin dancing which we both shared. Furthermore, we discovered that we shared a love of the sea and boats as Carrie had worked on cruise ships for 5 years. This was unusual because the people who danced at this venue were not dedicated Latin dancers.
We were both very tentative at meeting notwithstanding that the more we talked the more we had in common. We enjoyed dancing together particularly Latin Salsa dancing; Carrie was really good, a joy to dance with, after our very first dance it took my breath away, I even commented that I felt we had been dancing together forever. What we discovered was that we had both been taught by the same teacher, Jose Pirates for some years prior.
