“This Football Index lark,” says our friend New Trader, “It’s so bloody boring. I think I’m
going to give up.”

W e ’re keen to explain how we’ve managed a Return on Investment of 17.61 in seven
days. “It started with Jamie Vardy,” we begin.

But New Trader cuts us short. “I bought nineteen Gareth Bale, remember?”

How could we forget.

“Paid £5.19 each. It’s been a whole week. Gone up two measly pence. It’s a start, I
suppose. But it’s like watching paint dry. I thought it was going to be exciting. I thought I
was going to make money.”

So let’s close with a few words about expectations. If you start on Football Index with £100,
don’t expect to get yacht-rich overnight.
