Dear Friends Our club successfully executed the First Project of the Rotary Year
2019-20 under the End Thalassemia and Community service Initiative of Dist. 3142
in the form of organizing a Blood Donation Camp " Drop Of Blood" on 1st July 2019
at Wamanrao Oak Blood Bank , Ghantali , Naupada Road, Thane. LEAD CLUB RC
THANE MIDTOWN JOINTLY WITH RC THANE CREEKSIDE & RC THANE
GREENSPAN Keeping in line with the theme of the Rotary Year 2019-20 “ROTARY
CONNECTS THE WORLD”, it was this unique initiative and efforts put in by our
President to connect with the Auto Rickshaw Union of Thane thereby giving an
opportunity to the Auto Rickshaw drivers to join hands with an international
organisation like Rotary and do there little bit towards the greater cause of service
to mankind. The Inauguration was done by the President of the Auto rickshaw Union
of Thane city. The event which started at 10 am and went up to 7.30 pm witnessed
a foot fall of more than 135 persons including Rotarians, Non Rotarians, Thane
Rickshaw Union committee members and Rickshaw drivers. An overwhelming 60
persons volunteered to donate their blood of which 54 could successfully donate till
the end of the day. 6 persons were rejected due to low haemoglobin count and other
health issues. The process included filling up of Basic Mandatory information in a
Form , Checking of individuals blood group & Haemoglobin levels, Actual Blood
Donation, followed by serving of Tea / Coffee and Biscuits to the donor. Every donor
was then provided with a certificate by the Blood Bank. The day was marked by a
very overwhelming and enthusiastic response by all the RCTMT Club Members ,
Rtn. Anns, Next Gen Children and not to forget their enthusiastic & obedient Office
staff as well. In spite of the day witnessing very heavy rains throughout the day you
all made it. Thanks to one all for humbly gracing the event. The highlight of the day
was distribution of our club T-shirts to each and every members who visited the
event, importantly the willingness of everyone to change into the new T- shirt and
pose for joint photographs displayed great bonding, unity & camaraderie. The
quality, make and colour selection was admired by each and everyone and a sense
of pride and belongingness was visible in the eyes of every member who wore it.
Friends this initiative by our President is line with the guidelines of Rotary
International for Branding of Rotary. The major Blood Donors of the day were the
rickshaw drivers of thane city who came in large numbers with a sense of pride.
They were served snacks and tea before blood donation. They were very well
managed by the Union committee members who ensured that one of their
representative was present throughout the day to coordinate with the Blood bank
