Is counseling for me?
Counseling is for ANYONE and EVERYONE. Most of you will be wondering how come? Most of us believe that people who have problems in life and
cannot handle the problems on their own are candidate for counseling. It is true that people who are really finding it difficult to handle life situation will
benefit from counseling, but counseling is not only for them rather it is for anyone and everyone. Let’s answer few questions
Do you want to be peaceful while handling challenges?
DO you want to make progress in life?
Do you want to be master of your time?
Do you have work –life balance?
Do you want to be successful?
Do you want more fulfilment from relationships?
Do you want to know yourself better?
If answer to these questions is ‘yes’ then you can think of going for counseling. When you are going for counseling to a trained counselor you are giving yourself an
opportunity to know yourself better. We generally see the life from the lens of self. As the self-awareness increases we ourselves start perceiving life from different
perspective. A paradigm shift occurs and we start growing.
Many of the time people are reluctant to go for counseling as they are really not knowing what happens in counseling? It is just not hearing, consoling, encouraging
and advice giving. It is a professional helping relationship which is guided by certain principles and ethical code of conduct.
Counselors are trained in various therapies and techniques. Some of the known therapies and techniques are – Cognitive behavioral therapy, Gestalt therapy,
psychoanalysis, hypnotherapy, mindfulness, relaxation technique etc. They are also trained in some behavioral attributes like empathy, nonjudgmental attitude, being genuine.
Counseling is a collaborative and co-creative relationship. In which counselor genuinely accepts the client as a person. By applying professional skills the counselor creates a
warm atmosphere of trust and inspiration. It helps client to embark on a journey of discovery. The discovery might be unpleasant or pleasant but it increases the knowledge
about self and provides boost for freedom and responsibility. This in turn opens up new horizons of growth. In this entire process counselor acts as a facilitator by asking right
questions at the right time, and by providing challenges and encouragement.
Counseling can also be done in group settings where people with similar concerns come together. The counselor acts as a facilitator and moderator. The group
dynamics provide more energy and support for initiating and sustaining change.
A new discipline parallel to counseling has emerged which is known as coaching. In this, a certified and trained life coach generates the atmosphere that motivates
client to achieve their goals. Coaching is specifically done to achieve something in life. Coaching opens the doors of resourcefulness. Instead of cribbing, crying or getting
irritated on the present circumstances, coaching helps you to take full responsibility of the life and allows you to create the life that you are cherishing in your dreams.
Whether counseling or coaching, it is an experience worth having. It puts an individual on the path of becoming a person with no entanglements as rightly put in

From Rotaract Club of Thane Mid Town
My dear rotract friends and Rotary family members,
Namaskar,
I am happy to share with you main theme and activities so far done by our Rotaract club. The main focus of our club for this year would be
'towards Sustainability.' We believe in Robert Swan's quote which says 'The greatest threat to our planet is the belief that someone else will
save it.' Under broad term sustainability we not only consider sustainability in terms of nature but also in terms of health, education, standard of living, animals and the whole
economy. As true sustainable lifestyle will require changes on various aspects of living
We will be working as an Intercessor between NGOs and people who have rescued animals from roads. We will help in finding safe places for their survival and
living. We will also work for underprivileged children in whichever way we can for example by making study charts and sending to them or their schools, we will also be
volunteering to teach them. E-waste management is another unique project we wish to do. We will be advertising home-composting basket for wet waste management. We
will also be doing tree plantation drives. Two most unique fund raising events that we wish to bring about are "Cycling race" and "women's bike rally".
We wish to join all these dots and let everyone know us first by launching our website that we have already started working on. We will be uploading and updating
about all our incoming events on that website. We conducted following activities till now:
Our first project was blood donation camp in association with our parent club, RCTMT. It was supported by Autoriksha drivers. We got opportunity to interact with them and know
about their life.
We visited a promotional event of cultural fest 2019 of B.N. Bandodkar college,Thane and appealed the students to join our Rotaract club.
On 23rd August, the event named “Let’s Know Rotaract” was organized by our club with Rotatract Club of Thane Town Wing. ZRR Mr. Suraj Bisoy and Rotaractors of other clubs

Rotaract works, how it benefits the individual Rotaract members to develop their social skills and leading attitude, and also how it benefits the society.
The meeting for August month was conducted at President’s house on 31st August on the occasion of her own birthday. It was really a fun and also an official meeting, both. It is
decided to launch our own website in the month of September with very unique idea, which will be updated when we launch our website. There was wonderful interactions to plan the projects to
be done in this year. It was followed by cake cutting and birthday celebration of President Chinmayee.
