Reader as a poet
I have come to understand That Cole Younger was A very poetic man
At his sister’s home Came Cole’s last interview History records that
It’s absolutely true
Northfield was a mistake Cole first recorded
But I don’t see how the rest Could have been avoided
I have had a long life Cole related And God allowed it Cole then stated
Cole said against no one Did he hold a grudge And for his life was Not afraid to be judged
Cole’s infant nephew Was laying at Cole’s side And Cole picked him up
And said with great pride
Stating with a wink the Interviewer could not miss
Cole said “what more could a worn out old bandit ask for, beyond this”.
