I’ve read stories of the Youngers Written years apart Turned them into poetry Written from my heart
One account I read Cole summoned a friend And Jesse James Jr.
At his life’s end
Of the James Younger gang Cole would be the last And Cole new he was the Last doorway to the past
Wanting to give peace And wanting to heal Many long asked questions Cole would reveal
Having found Jesus And wanting to do right Cole the best he could Was bringing truth to light
And Jesse Jr. and friend Said Cole spoke his mind And said Belle Starr was his Best girl friend at one time
Of course those days Were all so long ago But I praise God for The witness of Cole’s soul
