A Poem For John Fitts
A man of war
Turned man of God John, that’s what you are
When we first met
I can still recall
Your cause was Jesus And you gave your all
But you never spoke Of your past to me It would be later Before I would see
It would be many
Years after we met When John called me on Behalf of the vets
I wrote and brought poems For the memorial
And that’s when your past Became pictorial
On a table pictures
Of veterans was there And as Judy and I
Looked we became aware
A Marine’s picture
And a Navy Seal too Judy and I looked at
And said John is that you
Then John answered With a humble heart Yes in both branches I played a part
