His Relationship with His Guru
Let me now describe the relationship between my father and his guru Shree Krishnanatha Maharaj. Very little is known between what communication went on between the two, about spiritual teachings. It is interesting how my father did not describe the core communication on this topic ever in his life. His relation in the spiritual matters with his guru was just like the one found between Natha Sampradaya gurus. But, one thing is very clear from his life, after he met his guru, he obeyed each word of what the Guru said. Before he met his guru, he never used to bow to any human, but he bowed only to the God. And, after he met his guru, he did not need any guidance on spiritual matters from anyone else. He was complete. He became the master. It is probable that my father took advice from his guru when he needed it badly on serious decisions. I have seen him, though on very few occasions, talking with his guru whose bones were buried in the Samadhi Temple at Parvati, Pune. The story of this temple shall be described later. When he needed such an advice, for example about a problem with one of his disciples, he would pray to his guru and ask for advice. He never took ownership of any work during his life. He was very skillful to pass all the credit onto his guru and Sai Baba of Shirdi, and pass away without getting caught in the name and fame. I feel pain when I realize that I did not know my father anywhere close to what he was.
