His Teachings useful to My Yoga Family
Now, we should go to the teachings of my father as the final part of this book.
My father was a living example of peace of mind and steadiness of intellect. Throughout his life he had financial difficulties and many times a humiliation from his friends, relatives and even disciples. However, I never saw him perturbed and angry. He never cursed for their misbehavior. And, he also did not fight with anyone ever. He tolerated everything with a peaceful attitude. He told me a few times that people would recognize his quality after his passing away. I myself realized this quality when I became a householder and an employee. It is very difficult to tolerate insults from others. I myself would not tolerate such insults in my own case. But, I can fully understand that a yogi who has reached stabilized state of mind and who is steadfast in spirituality only can do such a thing as my father did. My father was a living example of “Sthitaprajna Yogi” described in the Bhagavadgita!
Also, I never saw my father confused about anything in his whole life. When there was difficulty, he accepted it. When there was a decision to be made that seemed totally unreasonable to average people in a given situations, I found him totally confident of his decision. Please refer to his decisions in the case of my education (cf:His Family Life). Most of his letters to me while I was in Engineering Institute specifically mention that peace of mind and steadiness of intellect are the basis of any achievements including spiritual progress. I understood this fact fully very late in my life and I found that on understanding this fact, my progress was rapid.
