Page 64 - My Father-Final Book
P. 64

My father taught me one lesson so many times, but I have not been able to put that into practice fully even to-date. He told me not to hurt anyone’s mind. I have never seen my father hurting anyone. This is unbelievable to me even after experiencing it for almost 25 years. This quality is much more profound than Ahimsa mentioned in the Yoga Sutras for me.
One more thing my father displayed was his total trust in his guru and his deity. He never needed to learn spirituality from any other source after meeting his Guru. He seemed to know everything about spirituality. Though he did not strongly object to my studying from books or other sources, he did mention to me that the final spiritual realization occurs only when a true master blesses the disciple. But, a true master cannot be found with search by a disciple. But, when the disciple is ripe, the true master comes searching for the disciple. This happened exactly in my father’s case and also his guru’s case. My father also suggested that one should stick to one deity as the main deity.
My father told me to remember the guru and deity in so simple words that it is difficult to believe it to be so profound. He said one should remember them after waking up, while eating, and during some daily prayers. The catch was that one should never forget this routine in their whole life. I can say that I have experienced this fact to some extent. It is more important to do a single determined practice, even a small one, on a daily basis until it becomes a part of your life.
Another thing my father told me several times was that god, that is the chosen deity and guru always protect their devotees and never let them alone in suffering. They always see that the devotee gets all the basic necessities of the life, but they may not always grant riches.
