What is a Switch?

• Learns where each device is connected (which port) by reading the Layer 2
MAC address of each device as it “speaks” and builds the MAC Address Table

• Forwards frames to correct ports using the MAC Address Table (inside the Switch)

• Floods frames out of all ports (except the ingress port) when MAC address is unknown
