Seige felt relieved for the break but mentally ques- tioned the breakup of the task force. From day one, being back in class seemed to be for no particular purpose he thought. And mov- ing through the bush all day brought them to a rice paddy laden open area as they were losing light. Team members fanned out and attempted to reach the vegetation on the far side before dusk. There was an almost simultaneous sigh of relief from the patrol as they neared the trees. In the murky dusk, they observed three females still diligently working in the rice paddies. As the patrol passed, the three women stood together. All eyes were riveted on the center goddess whose cave-black hair flowed over her body when she removed her hat. The entire patrol stopped, mesmer- ized by her curvaceous perfection dwelling so far from humanity. Her slight smile only made the team’s position more precarious. Danger approached with the rapid onset of darkness, but the patrol was frozen like deer in the light. A blink from her eyes broke the spell.
