the critical edge lies. Tell me, Paul, do you think you should be killed for what you helped me do?”
“No of course not. I deserve to be punished maybe but not killed.”
“And tell me, my moralistic friend, who besides God is going to give you exactly what you deserve or even knows what you deserve for anything you do?”
“I think He is the only one who can.”
“Then right and wrong be damned right now. Let’s focus on survival because unlike team there is an I in that word.”
“Tom,” as I think about it, you probably did what you had to do with us. It’s probably best all around. If it wasn’t, you wouldn’t be thinking of good.”
“What the hell are you talking about?”
“Look at yourself. Here you are risking your life to save ours. You don’t have to. I call that good. You were in with the bad seed and now you’re trying to change. That’s also good. Hell, next thing you know, there will be a girl somewhere expecting you home for dinner.”
“Thanks, Paul. I really mean it.”
Tom stopped abruptly causing Paul to bump into him. He had just spotted the car that passed them earlier. Both men raised their hands and moved toward the car. Stopping a few feet from the car they looked around for signs of anyone in the area and Tom hoped if anyone was left behind they were not trigger-happy.
“Hold it right there!” A voice spoke out from the bushes beside the car.
“Thank God someone is here we can turn ourselves into,” said Tom.
“Look. You don’t know me,” he said, “but I’m looking for someone.”
“Just exactly who is that?” the man questioned, removing Tom’s gun.
“Seige. Seige Key. I wrote him to help me because we are being held captive.”
