colliding with Dan’s shin. Crack! She swung the heavy post to- ward Dan’s knees but missed as he jumped to the rear. She lost her balance and fell to the floor on top of him while he lost his balance.
Sienna tried to get to her feet quickly, but Dan shifted and clasped her neck between his legs. Struggling, gasping, she tried desperately to break free, although in vain. Dan was going to kill her. Jennifer grabbed the remaining bedpost, crawled over to the two.
Slam! Slam! Slam! Slam! Slush! Slush came the sound of Dan’s skull being invaded by the side of the remaining bedpost. Jennifer had turned Dan’s skull to mush. She untangled her daughter from Dan’s clutches and they fell backwards into each other’s embrace. Both women bruised, battered, and spent laid
on the floor crying in each other’s arms.
“Mom,” said Sienna, after a long silence, “I thought he was
going to kill us. I didn’t mean to hit you. I’m sorry.”
“Shhhh! honey, it’s okay. He won’t hurt you anymore.” “I’m glad he’s dead. I had no idea he was the one. I hope
Mom rests in peace now.”
“Save your strength now, we have to leave here soon. There’s
no telling who sent him or if any more are coming.”
Splash! The sound of glass breaking came from the bedroom window. Sky dove through the window and rolled in with his gun pointed at the women. He spotted Dan on the floor and switched aim suddenly realizing Dan was dead. He sat up suddenly grab-
bing his side.
“Is everything all right?” he questioned.
“Yes,” said Jennifer. We’re a little beat up but still alive,”
praise God.” So are you.”
“I let you down,” Sky added, “but I’m glad to see you two
still hanging in there.”
“Actually,” Jennifer said, “you did all you could. We thought
you were dead, especially when Dan shot you point blank.”
