Fog descended upon the city like a billowing para- chute with escaping air, as the light relinquished its throne to the darkness. Visara drove frantically to be available for the wounded when the task force arrived.
“I wonder who was hurt?” she thought, waiting at the kitchen table
The kitchen became animated with cabinets opening and pots and pans brewing when Visara decided she was hungry.
“Breakfast. That’s what I’ll have. Too bad I don’t have com- pany. I flat refuse to be left out on the next mission. This ‘You’re the team surgeon crap’ has played out. I can fight, shoot, and think as fast as any of the others—and better than most. This next mission will be a biggie, and I’m not paying wallflower,” she said, scrambling her eggs.”
“I’m getting in if I have to steal my way in” she said on the way to the living room.
“Let’s see. It’s about late news time,” she thought, pointing the television remote.
“And now the latest in On The Scene News from around the world,” a television newscaster announced.
“The drug known as Blue Heaven has taken its toll on thousands in the metro area alone. The drug is so plentiful that authorities are baffled as to its origin and distribution, but have vowed continued vigilance to ensure control of this mind-altering substance.
