this building I thought it had a fantastic view, but I guess like every- thing else in this life it’s getting old. Even with all the motion of cars like ants to the nest, monotony is setting in.”
At that moment, a helicopter appeared outside the window and moved sideways toward the building. Corin riveted his eyes on the craft as it hurled itself nearer with the door sliding open revealing a man stepping to the strut strapped in. The craft came to an abrupt hover as the standing passenger slid a rifle from the seat onto his shoulder in one fluid motion.
Ping! Ping! Ping! The sounds of shots from the helicopter sniper creeping toward his target from right to left pierced the air.
Corin hit the floor and started to roll to his left. The helicop- ter rose and moved in closer completely shattering the picture window.
Rat! Tat! Tat! Tat! Tat! The gunman fired his weapon now on automatic.
Corin had rolled into a kneeling position behind his favorite chair and was peeping to spot the sniper. The sniper’s eyes met Corin’s whose head popped from the side of the chair. He brought his rifle stock back to his cheek. Corin spotted the rifle moving towards the man’s cheek and dove from behind the chair. He rose to his feet amid a hail of bullets struggling to catch up while diving behind his desk.
Rat! Tat! Tat! Tat! Tat! The sniper fired again on automatic.
Corin crawled toward his now dead guards who had been killed before their guns cleared their holster. He took the dead man’s gun, as the helicopter continued to close. Then popped up above the desk and froze ready to fire as the craft tried to stabi- lize. Eyes wide in amazement, Corin fired.
Bam! Bam! Bam! Bam! Bam!
The gunman fell suspended motionless from the helicopter as the injured pilot swerved away from the building into the distance. Corin crawled to his other downed bodyguard and took his gun. Slowly he got to his knees, then his feet and moved toward
the broken picture window.
