182 JAGGEDEDGE
Bang! came the sound of his office door bursting open with two men entering.
Corin spun around and all three men pointed guns at each other. He took a deep sigh of relief as the guards lowered their guns.
“Sorry, Boss. We heard all this shooting and didn’t know what was going on!” Jeff shouted.
Some asshole in a helicopter just tried to put me down,” Corin panted, “but I think they’re gone.”
“We’ll get these guys outta here and clean up, Boss.” “Yeah. Do that. Good idea.”
“Man, you got plenty of fresh air now, Boss,” Jeff joked, as
he moved close to the open void in the side of the building. “I wonder who even knew you were in this room?” Jeff continued, moving closer to the open space.
“Get away!” were the only words the guard heard come from Corin’s mouth as shots impacted in the room.
Shots zinged by hitting the wall from outside the window.
Corin and the remaining guard looked around first to see their comrade falling toward the floor and then to watch the pic- ture of Solomon and Sheba exploding from the wall.
“Get down!” Corin hollered. “That was no helicopter! Some- body else is trying to get us!”
The remaining guard started low—crawling toward the win- dow.
“Keep crawling toward that window, and I’ll shoot you my- self,” Corin warned his guard. “How far do you think that nine millimeter will reach anyway? Go toward the door.”
“But Boss, maybe I can spot him.”
“I’m not telling you again. Get the hell out of the room. Now!” The man turned and quickly low-crawled from the room with
Corin close behind.
“Go downstairs and get my shooter, Eric, and some bin-
oculars. And tell him to come to the room above this one. Now move it!”
