right corner of the window. Slow left, slow right pause. Slow left, pause. He laid his binoculars down and drew his rifle closer. Then he grabbed the dummy and slowly pushed it higher against the window. Next he moved it to the side turning it left and right before lowering it. Another binocular check. Eric propped the dummy against the window slowly.
Instantly, two bullets struck the wall. Eric fell back as the bullets hit the dummy.
“I got her,” Eric confirmed with satisfaction.
“Got her!” She’s still shooting at us!” Corin shouted.
“Her location,” Eric replied. “She’s a pro. She’s in the Baker’s
Building, three floors from the roof. Tell your men to surround it and look for a woman dressed in brown with coal black hair.”
“Can’t you get her from here?” Corin questioned.
“No. Having hit her target or not, she would be packing up by this time to escape. She’s on her way out.”
“The rest of you get out on the street and help,” Corin or- dered, picking up the phone. “Don’t let her get away.”
Eric sat in his corner steadily scanning the area.
“I wonder if she lives in that building,” Corin thought. “Nah.” She wouldn’t be stupid enough to trap herself without a way out.” He waited until the rest of the men low-crawled from the
room. “Something’s wrong isn’t there,” Corin asked Eric.
“I keep seeing signs of movement, but I can’t get a fix. I’m
beginning to think this little girl is smarter than we think.” “What the hell is that supposed to mean?” Corin blasted, distracting Eric and causing a glint off the window from the bin-
oculars.
“This girl is . . .”
Two bullets whizzed by like a harpoon hitting a potato sack.
The mannequin jerked hard twice and slammed into the wall. Corin jerked from the surprise and started immediately shuf- fling backwards away from the window. He grabbed his phone.
“Hello? This is Corin. Who is in charge down there?” “Cooper, Sir. Cooper Daniel’s,” a voice responded.
