“Let me speak to him.”
“Cooper Daniel’s, Sir.”
“Cooper, I want more men in the Baker’s Building. That damn
sniper is still there. I want her head or yours. Do you get my meaning?”
“Yes Sir, said Cooper.
Slamming down the phone, Corin low-crawled hurriedly to- ward the hallway and sat on the floor, bathed in sweat collecting his thoughts.
“Let’s go, Eric. She’s too good. Let the dogs get her down- stairs. Something is wrong,” he thought as sweat accumulated on his forehead in droplets.
He was so sure he recognized the helicopter sniper’s identity he didn’t want to speak his name. He also suspected that when the new sniper was found, he would recognize her also. Some- how he thought Tom had found a way to set his own killers against him. There didn’t seem to be any flaws in the software and he didn’t remember giving his other killers a mission. Corin started to recount his steps.
“There has to be a reason two of my killers are coming after me. That son-of-a-bitch!” he growled emphatically.
His eyes squinted into slits at the realization that Tom had either given orders on the software before he did or made an- other copy of the software and changed his orders. In either case the bastard might be still alive. Beads of sweat became more apparent on Corin’s forehead. He hurriedly dialed the phone.
“Cooper. Cooper, you still there?”
“Yes Sir.”
“Break off what you are doing and put someone else in charge
of that operation. I have another mission for you. Get up here on the double!”
“One in a helicopter I recognized for sure,” he realized, “and a sniper below I haven’t seen, but I know she works for me. I’ve got to have some answers.”
Corin got up and rushed to the elevator waiting for Cooper.
