He noticed the image starting to smile, which shocked his sub- consciousness.
You’ve got a hell of a nerve,” said Matthew, to his image in the mirror. “making nothing but mistakes, and you still have the nerve to smile,” he said as the smile faded. “What the hell are you doing still alive?” You’ve lied to people who put their lives on the line because of your word, helped people you shouldn’t have been affiliated with, and good people have died because you made a deal with the devil. Admit it Matthew it’s time to take Corin down, and it’s the only way to redeem yourself.”
Matthew looked at his image with a new determination real- izing his teeth were clenched tight. He turned from his image and walked from the bathroom to the kitchen. This one is going to be bloody he thought eating after cleaning his guns on the table.
For the first time in a long time Matthew felt comfortable with himself.
“I should’ve done this a long time ago,” he thought, wonder- ing how many people say that too late. “I’ve allowed Corin to corrupt my very soul. His death would pay a lot of debts.”
As Matthew rose from the table, an eerie feeling crept upon him. He distinctly heard a noise, the movement of a bush at his window. He saw movement from corner of his right eye reaching for his gun. He grabbed it and spun getting the drop on the figure about to raise his arm.
Click The lack of recoil feedback from his gun shocked him immediately. Matthew, realizing his gun was empty, turned to run and fell.
Thump! He hit the floor after being smashed in the head from the rear.
“Okay, Coop, what now?” the man inquired.
“Make sure he’s unconscious. Wrap him up in this, and let’s get him out of here, you idiot,” Cooper scolded.
The subordinate immediately dropped to his knees and started tying his captive.
