  XXII Clash of the Predators
The hours had ground into minutes as Brock stood by with his team waiting for the second. A sudden glance at his watch showed a series of excited dots slowly disappearing. He waited for his curtain call to commence. The idle time reminded him of several things he could change; unfortunately, time for all of them had past. For the first time in a long time the reins of leadership, responsibility, and total control was his. He had fi- nally gotten his wish. The power surge of that realization made him tremble with fear and excitement.
“This is the time,” he thought, “when all of the training forces you to react. I hope, for their sake, I’m ready.”
Brock wiped the sweat from his eyes and looked once again at his watch, the excited dots cleared just as he gave the go signal. He smiled to himself as the adrenaline rush began. Craig received the signal and moved quickly to the alley side of the water store between two trucks one of which was shutting down. The driver got out of the truck and was shuffling papers as he walked to the door.
“Freeze,” Craig whispered softly in the driver’s ear. He could feel the driver trembling when he dropped his clipboard.
“Pick up your papers,” he instructed. I’m going to ask a few quick questions and I want a few quick answers. Speak to loud, warn someone, or even breath too loud, and I’ll have to get my answers elsewhere. You with me?”
The driver nodded his head in the affirmative.
