The driver turned the knob. Marcus was the first in moving the driver to the side and spotting another man reaching behind himself. Two bullets from the gun Marcus held sent the man’s lifeless body on a race with his own gun to the floor. Marcus handcuffed the remaining man as the team rushed in.
“Driver,” Craig ordered, “show us the tube and the under- ground entrance.”
The driver led them to the pneumatic tube and tapped on it. “Get the gas ready,” Brock ordered. “Where’s the entrance?” The driver stood suddenly defiant as if he had given his al-
lotted share of information.
Brock quickly walked up to the driver, placed his gun under
the man’s chin, and said, “No need for you to hang around if we don’t need you.”
“Okay, the driver succumbed, “here is one, and the other is in the alley.”
“Show me,” Marcus demanded.
The driver reluctantly pointed to the inside entry while lead- ing Marcus and Craig outside. Halfway down the brick walled alley, he pointed to a door camouflaged with clever graffiti.
“It’s all yours Marcus, said Craig. I’ll take him back with us.”
Craig brought the driver back gagged and handcuffed him to a counter rail as the team prepared to go in. The team re-entered the back room donning their protective masks.
“Pull,” Brock said, as the pins were pulled on the canisters, “now!”
The canisters slid toward their underground destination.
The team listened to the underground commotion for two sec- onds. At that moment, Brock gave the signal for the doors to be jammed open.
“On the command, Go!”
The team entered and ran rapidly down the stairs.
Across town several thousand feet in the air, Seige gave a
similar command evacuating the helicopter of its cargo. His team
