“Farewell, my love,” Visara said, hugging Seige for an ex- tended period of time until their embrace faded as they smiled at each other. She walked away without looking back.
Brock stood wondering what words he could say that would keep Seige from leaving the task force but knew it was in vain. Seige had taught him the true meaning of family and would al- ways be with them. It had taken him awhile to really understand it and only became crystal clear as the task force became one blood. As the new director of the force, he now held the reins of leadership yet still didn’t want to see his brother go. He wanted to be the last one to say, “Later.”
“If not for him, I would have been dead a long time ago,” he thought as Seige finally approached.
Seige said his good-byes to all at the funeral except the one he grew closest to in the trenches. After saying goodbye to Visara, he walked toward Brock and stopped in front of him. Both men looked at each other. They grabbed each other before the tears appeared.
“I love you, brother. And being an only child, I’d never known what having a real brother meant until you,” Brock intimated.
“I love you too, Bro, and I know our brothers are in good hands. That’s the reason you’re in this position. To go against evil you’ve got to be strong. You’re still a little radical, but your hard- est job is to eliminate yourself by training our brothers to replace you.
“Got time for a walk?” Brock asked him.
“Sure.”
“That was the most beautiful and heartfelt ceremony I have
been to honoring our guys. And I especially appreciate the way you eulogized the men and their families. You spoke to the audi- ence as if you were talking about your own flesh and blood.”
