 6 2 JAGGEDEDGE
“Did Corin tell you I need to get in touch with a few of my buddies without you being seen?”
“Yes, Sir. We were told to be out of sight when you need us that way.”
“I don’t suppose you would be willing to share exactly when those times are?”
“No, Sir,” Nathan replied.
“Will you guys be helping me with the project?”
“Only if you ask.”
Tom felt more relaxed now thinking; hoping his new friend
would get out. His thoughts were on how he would engineer this situation so that he could get out unscathed. He sat back and enjoyed the view, rolling down the window to see the beautiful countryside as the car sped down the road. The foursome re- mained quiet and reserved as they sat uneasily in each other’s company. The driver took a road that was almost camouflaged from the low hanging trees. Quickly, the view was replaced by near darkness from the canopy of close-grown trees.
“Are we here?” Tom inquired sitting upright in his seat.
“Yes, Sir. This is your base of operations,” Nathan volun- teered.
“No worries about getting bothered in here,” Tom said, smil- ing as they approached a large cabin.
The door opened for Tom, and the three went inside to assist him. He looked in each room quickly deciding how he would set up the operation. Entering the front room, he saw his three assis- tants waiting.
“Well, I need to make a few phone calls before we get started.” “The phone is over there, Sir,” said Nathan.
“He walked over to the chair beside the phone, picked it up
and, stared at the assistants. As their eyes met, the guards looked at each other and left the room. Tom made several phone calls, stood up, and went back into the hallway. The three assistants met him in the hallway together.
“I am ready to go coordinate with my friends.”
