GSP Strength Tests

Independent strength tests have performed by Martin Joergensen which can be seen at http://globalflyfisher.com/tie-better/fly-
tying-thread-table. Nano Silk comes out strongest comparisons against comparable threads.

The big question is why is Nano Silk so strong? It is actually simple, GSP threads are made from extruding polythene (Gel
Spun Polyethylene GSP) in the same way we make spaghetti, the raw plastic is stretched over rollers until the required diameter
and merged into the final thread. Depending on the manufacturer it may then be twisted. With spaghetti you get different quality
according to the flour used. True ‘00’ flour is used for the best quality spaghetti. In the same way Semperfli specifications demand
the highest quality polyethylene with specific qualities which make the best and strongest quality fly tying thread. As a result our
technical team have produced aramids (GSP) where the molecules tend to form rod-like structures and these are only be
oriented in one direction to form a strong fibre for fly tyers.
