The perfect destination for a day out. The main attractions
such as Big Pit National Coal Museum p59, Blaenavon
Ironworks, the World Heritage Centre p43 and Blaenavon
Heritage Railway p59 are all just a few minutes drive or
walk from each other.
Big Pit National Coal Museum p59 offers the chance to
go underground in the pit cage, down into a former
coalmine where children as young as five and ponies
worked, often in the pitch black. There is also an
interactive exhibition above ground, housed in the
original colliery buildings.
