Goytre Wharf is a 200-year-old industrial heritage site that now includes a busy
visitor centre and marina on the Monmouthshire and Brecon Canal. The centre has
plenty to offer including exhibitions and events, canal trips and children’s activities.
The area around the centre has canal side and woodland walks, wildlife to spot and
audio boxes interpreting the lime kilns.
How to get there: The visitor centre is signposted off the A4042 between Mamhilad
and Llanover.

Public Transport: Bus 23 (TC) Hereford-Newport stops on the A4042 just before Goytre
Hall and Goytre Hall Wood. It is approximately 400m walk along a rough track to the site.
Parking: Pay and display car park. Disabled parking is available on site a little further
down from the main car park.
Nearest EV Charging: Goytre Village Car Park, Goytre, NP4 0BL.
Distance: There are short walks from the car park and visitor centre, with longer walks
along the canal towpath. The Canal and River Trust website has downloadable maps.
Facilities: The visitor centre includes a gift shop and café. There are other cafes and
pubs in Goytre and nearby villages.
Toilets: Toilets, including a disabled access toilet, open during the café’s opening hours.
