P. 4
On May 11th 2024, at a packed Church Bank, Llandovery RFC defeated Newport RFC to secure
the phenomenal triple achievement of being crowned Welsh Cup Champions, Indigo League table
topping Champions and Premiership Play Off Champions of Wales! An absolutely magnificent,
momentous, wonderful and incredible success that surpasses all else in the Clubs long history!
This pinnacle triumph was built on the foundation
of having the best defence in the league and just
reward for the determination of coaches and players
to attack ‘The Drovers Way’ using the expansive
flare and adventurous style of play that has long
since become synonymously linked with the Drovers
approach to rugby that is so very attractive and
enjoyable to watch.
It is no surprise that the two final playoff games
against Cardiff and Newport, both deservedly
hosted at The Home of The Drovers, were regarded
as two of the best games to have been televised
by S4C throughout the season. Both were fiercely
competitive and full of intensity whilst highlighting
some wonderfully talented and pacy youngsters.
We are indeed blessed to have a very special Club
in a very special community and we have enjoyed
many unbelievably special moments together
because we have special people involved throughout
the Club. I would like to express my sincere gratitude
to every single individual connected with Llandovery
RFC in any and every way and at every level for your
ongoing loyalty and support.
It is the amalgamation of your combined efforts that
has resulted in our 1st team’s ongoing progression to
the very highest level in the fledgling ‘Super Rygbi
Cymru’ competition.
Your passion and commitment will ensure that our
new all-weather 3G pitch’ will see the beginning of
yet another exciting chapter for rugby in Llandovery
which will be a huge benefit to the Club and wider
community. Hopefully working alongside Llandovery
College and local schools it will trigger the speedy
return of Youth and 2nd team rugby alongside the
huge potential opportunity to grow and expand
girl’s and women’s rugby representation in Llandovery
- recently and deservedly recognised by the WRU as
‘The birthplace of rugby in Wales’!
Er Gwaethaf Pawb a Phopeth Ni Yma o Hyd!
