A New Millennium
Heralds a New Idea.
It was now early 2000 and, not happy to rest
on their laurels, Farmers First, which was now
the holding company for Farmers Ferry and its
sister company Farmers Fresh, looked to push
home the initiative.
Armed with the knowledge that there was also
a market for carcass export into Europe, the
former Snelsons abattoir at Kenilworth was
leased. Operations started on the 2nd May
2000 aer refurbishments to the old three-
species line meant a sheep-only plant could
process and export as much sheep meat as
possible and further improve UK prices.
