ODDI WRTH YR YSGRIFENYDD
FROM THE SECRETARY
Big birthdays are often occasions for reflection on the past. As Gwernyfed RFC leaves its 59th
year behind we will take a glance back, but, as always at The Old Malthouse - our attention is
firmly fixed upon the future.
A really successful season on the field was due in
no small part to the Club’s investment in the Video
match recording system which allows coaches
and players to review where we went right – and,
occasionally, we hope, where we can learn from
where we went wrong.
New Mini/Junior Section Chair Chris McGowan
stepped into the huge shoes of Dave Roberts,
succession being rewarded with continuing
enthusiasm and growth. We see the product of
the Section in action at senior level, proof if proof
were needed, that our best investment is in the
youngsters who will wear the badge with pride at
senior level in years to come and help celebrate
yet more big birthdays.
The new changing rooms in which many readers
have invested will open in the coming season,
a tangible sign of the ambition and commitment
so apparent at Gwernyfed.
Every season sees us investing in the future and
you would expect nothing less as our sixtieth
season beckons. Great plans are afoot for the
celebrations.
However, the prosaic must be attended to and
with our floodlights now showing their age we
hope to be able to replace the lights with LED
versions, more effective and substantially more
sustainable.
A Birthday Year beckons...
