Swansea England & Wales
The highest level of qualification index score is a summary measure that can be used to compare how highly qualified population
groups are. It assigns every individual aged 16 years and over a value based on their highest level of qualification, excluding those
whose highest level of qualification was unknown. The index score is then the average value of all individuals in the selected area.
The index score was used to rank local authorities from least highly qualified to most highly qualified.

Authorities across England and Wales.
Swansea & Pembrokeshire sit within the mid
quadrant. Neath Port Talbot in the lowest quadrant
and Carmarthenshire in the 2nd lowest.
With the leading Educational institutions based in
Swansea, the county is well positioned to raise
educational attainment for its population as well as
support the neighbouring counties. Projects such as
SWITCH in partnership with Neath Port Talbot can
be built upon as best practice for future
partnerships.
