Your horse should be dewormed every six months with an Intermectin product
that will remove all the dangerous parasites from your horse’s guts (Evans, No
            year of publication).

            How often should my horse

            see the farrier?

Besides making and fitting the horseshoes on
your horse, your farrier is in change to check your
horse’s hooves, cut away any excess hoof growth,
and make sure your horse is properly balanced.
Casey & Son Horseshoeing School (2015) recom-
mends calling your farrier every six weeks to
ensure that your horse’s hooves are healthy and
            comfortable all the time.

            How often should my horse

            see the dentist?

Horses teeth never stop growing. Sometimes, this causes uneven edges to
develop on the teeth, causing painful and uncomfortable sores on your horse’s
tongue and cheeks. To avoid sores and discomfort in your horse’s mouth, you
should call your vet once a year to perform a process called floating. Floating
consists of filing down the uneven edges with a metal rasp. This process is not
painful for your horse, but your vet may consider necessary to sedate him. By
floating your horse, you will avoid your horse from being uncomfortable while
riding or eating. Many digestive problems such as underweight are associated
with poor dental health. Then, be sure to talk with your vet and check your
horse’s dental condition to find out exactly how often he needs to have his teeth
            done (Manor & Keynes, 2018).
