María Alejandra Ramelli
Silvia Roselli
Sylvia was a remarkable dressage ri-
der in Colombia. She has a lot of expe-
rience with horses as she has worked
with them all her life. When she was
young, she participated in important na-
tional dressage competitions, and today
she teaches vaulting and dressage in di-
fferent riding schools around Bogota.
“My passion for horses started when
I was very young. I started riding the
horses that were on my farm every wee-
kend, and then I’d ride at La Tranquera
every afternoon after high school. After
some years of training at La Tranquera, I had the opportunity to buy an English
Thoroughbred mare named Shalinka. She was my first real horse of my own.
The first time I rode her I felt a very strong connection with her, and I knew
right then that she would help me grow as a rider. She brought a lot of happi-
ness to my life, and gave me a lot of satisfaction. I think she came into my life
at the perfect time because we ended up being national dressage champions.
Owning a horse means a lot of things. It is not as simple as many people think
it is. Having a horse is a very big responsibility. You have to spend a lot of time
with your horse, you have to make a lot of sacrifices, you have to put a lot of
things aside, and if you really want to own a horse you have to consider all of
this beforehand. You have to know that owning a horse will change your life.
A horse is a living being that depends on you in almost every way. Today, I
can more than affirm that all those sacrifices are really worth it.”
