Mercer’s Billions Ponzi Opened the Door
Mercer put the phone down after speaking to his security team. Steve Bannon had left, presumably to rejoin the party. Robert L. Mercer, physicist, mathematician, computer scientist, and master of finance, sank back in his chair. He looked around his beloved library. Yes, he loved this room, and he knew it existed only because of money, lots of money.
The importance of money was driven into his mind throughout his childhood, as he watched how the world operated. By the age of twelve, it was clear to Mercer that the more you had, the more you got. If you had money, you got more of everything, especially respect, attention, and power. You could buy what you wanted, when you wanted. If you were rich, you were never wrong. That is what he wanted. And he would do what was necessary, whatever was necessary, to get money and keep it. He smiled to himself as he dreamed of the world according to Mercer.
All of his methodical planning to reach his goal, his education, and his career path would never have given him what he wanted, until fate stepped in.
It all began with a phone call from Nick Patterson on behalf of the founder of Renaissance, James H. Simons.
