2. Designing Learning Media using the Anderson Model Approach
Anderson (1976) created a media selection model that refers to
its relationship with other components.
The selection procedure begins with questions about whether
the message conveyed is
informational/entertainment/instructional in nature. If you
want to display an instructional message, will it
function as a learning tool or a teaching tool? The next process is to
determine the instructional strategy, namely whether you
want to provide learning experiences of attitudes,
physical/cognitive skills.
Next, choose the appropriate media to determine the
final choice. Considerations in choosing media:
- Criteria for ease of obtaining
- Easy to carry everywhere
- Suitability to existing resources, conditions and limitations
such as personnel, facilities, funds, and so on.
Anderson sees media selection as an integral part of instructional
development. Anderson divides the media into 10 groups, namely:
· Audio media
· Print media
· Sound print media
· Silent projection media
· Sound projection media
· Motion visual media
· Motion audio-visual media
· Object
· Human and environmental sources
· Computer Media
