PROJECT DEVELOPMENT AND SERVICES 7.6 Governance Approach (continued) address such potential constraints and opportunities • Assist the architect to achieve compact office areas without compromising the design objectives. • Prepare reports on innovative and proven design concepts and to evaluate such designs based upon energy, efficiency, lifecycle costing and system advantages / disadvantages. • Simplicity of design to minimise construction time, commissioning time, operating cost and owning cost. • Avoidance of over capitalisation in plant and services. • Energy conservation and ESD considerations. • Development of an efficient services design which provides effective engineering services and space for future services. We intend to make full use of the concept stage, in order that investigations can be made into alternative systems, with a view to producing an agreed design brief that meets the client’s expectations and budget. Waterman has worked on various Green Star and NABERS projects. We have the ESD knowledge and modelling capabilities to ensure the design and delivery of a successful sustainable project. We understand that a base building Green Star rating can add constraints and offer opportunities for the fitout design for the future, the extent of which will relate to various project specific factors. We would from the outset. The value we add to a project lies with skills and professional approach that the Waterman engineers possess. The experience that our staff have gained not only in recent fitouts and commercial base buildings but also sustainable developments will enable our team to take a proactive role within the design team and give reliable advice and options in order to ensure the services are designed to reflect the quality of the fitout and basebuilding Waterman has extensive experience on a number of similar projects. The quality of service that we will perform, will meet the expectations of client. The design documentation will be co-ordinated within our office and with the work by other team members, and is independently checked as part of our Quality Management System. We will advise the client on design criteria and recommend design solutions in respect of the various services. In doing so, every care will be exercised to check that this advice is correct and can be supported on functional, technical and economic grounds. In addition to the above, our engineers during the construction phase will liaise closely with the sub- contractors and be pro-active in ensuring items such as workshop drawings, samples etc are submitted and approved on time in order to meet programme objectives. The time spent and attention to detail during the commissioning stage is essential in ensuring that the hand over is complete and successful. < CONTENTS > 43
