• 388 is an iconic 1970’s ‘A’ grade building located on the busy corner of George and King St. With the full building tenant vacating in 2018 the Institutional owners are utilising this opportunity to undertake a full building refit of the tower services, while also maximising GFA with a new 5 level podium building on the corner forecourt. As Project Director, Damian was responsible for the appointment of the design consultants’ team and management of the client brief through design and authority approval. The construction methodology is via an Early Contractor Involvement (ECI) phase before negotiation of the GMP. Due for completion in 2020.
NSW Ambulance, Sydney Metropolitan Area ($170m)
• NSW Ambulance undertook a programme of works to ultimately improve response times and at the core of this programme is the construction of 12 new Hubs and 7 new Standby facilities. The Hubs will have capacity to cater for administration and staff supporting 10 to 40 vehicles, while the Standbys are lightweight and designed to cater for 2 ambulance crews. As the Project Director, Damian was responsible for the tendering and appointing the consultant team as well as tendering and appointing contractors for various minor and early works packages, including the appointment of the main contractors. The programme was 3 years in duration with the construction of the 19 new facilities tied to the complex needs of existing facilities, lease expiries and purchase agreements.
Macquarie Bank, 50 Martin Place, Sydney ($160m)
• As the client’s project manager, Damian was involved prior to the purchase of the site and started on the initial Due Diligence works, investigating the existing services, building codes and LEP guidelines, heritage constraints and concept planning. As works progressed, he was responsible for the early works and heritage packages and protection, development applications and authority approvals, services integration and the fitout design so that we could integrate and incorporated a completely new state of the art 20,000m2 fitout including 2 new roof levels covered in a structural steel and glass canopy, completely new services, reactivated and increased the size of the atrium and added two new glass express lifts to the roof top. While all the time maintaining uninterrupted operation of the existing ground level Commonwealth Bank banking chamber within this 1920’s heritage classic.
Macquarie Bank, 1 Shelley Street, Sydney ($30m)
• Acting as the client’s representative responsible for the design and engineering consultant teams, development applications and coordination of the fitout contractor, to design and build the new Macquarie Bank tenancy located at King Street Wharf across 9 levels for approx 2,700 staff across 28,500 m2. Working with the Change Management team this project was targeted 5 Star Green Star fitout with the project embracing the modern design philosophy of ABW, where staff choose a work setting that is conducive to the task/function they wish to undertake (sole, cluster or group) and embrace flexibly desking solutions throughout the building. A heavily fire engineered design, the fitout incorporates access floor, passive ch illed beams and adjustable lighting, wireless LAN smoke curtains and population management systems.
Cairns Regional Council, Entertainment Precinct, Cairns ($255m)
• Design and build project for a new entertainment precinct along an unused section of foreshore consisting of a 1,000 seat theatre with underground parking, 400 seat theatre, museum and the redevelopment of a heritage 1940’s timber sugar storage shed for future commercial use
Citrix HQ, Waterloo Road, Ryde ($9m): 3,500m2 fitout for the new Citrix HQ
WPP, 235 Pyrmont Street, Pyrmont ($6m): Relocating to approximately 1,500m2, responsible for the appointment and management of the consultant and build team, included DA for new mezzanine and roof top level
Grocon, HQ, Sydney($2m): 800m2 fitout of the head office achieving 6 star Green Star
