AGTA AWARDS
  Larry Bowers
For the first time in many years, AGTA singled out several long time members for their contributions to the industry. As shown by the pictures to the right, Larry Bowers, Ground Transportation Manager at Salt Lake City International Airport, was recognized for his long service in the airport industry, thirty-two years, 27 of which were in ground transportation.

record of excellence of providing dedicated airport taxi services. Having immigrated to the U.S. as a teenager and working in a garage as a mechanic, he acquired several repaired taxis when owners could not pay for their repairs, so Farouq began running them in service, only to grow his fledgling taxi
company into one of the largest taxi fleets in Washington, D.C. Eventually, his

International Airport. Over the past several decades, Massoud’s airport taxi fleet has operated over 28 million miles without a single major accident or passenger death – an outstanding achievement and one AGTA felt should be recognized.
John McCarthy
John McCarthy, President of GO Airport Express, in Chicago, and President of The GO Group, was recognized for his many contributions to the airport ground transportation industry and AGTA. John’s first meeting at an AGTA event was in 1973 giving him tenure and seniority within the industry and AGTA. John has successfully guided his firm through conversion of bus to van operations and now to diversified sedan and SUV services as well as shared ride services. Ever optimistic, John feels the industry has great potential to continue to play a role and grow privately provided airport ground transportation.
