CONGRATULATIONS TO THE TAMIL METHODIST CHURCH PENANG
ON THE 125TH YEAR ANNIVERSARY CELEBRATION
Tribute to the Youth of our church
Praise be to God for all the good things he has done. The celebration of our
church’s existence for 125 years is an opportunity to further glorify God and at
the same time to remember the pioneers who had the foresight to establish a
place of worship for Tamil speaking Christians on the Island of Penang. Many
who joined the church in the course of the 125 years contributed, in various
ways, towards the growth of the church. Older members have passed on and
many other have moved out of Penang. As members of the church from the
sixties to the early nineties, my wife and I were glad and impressed to see the
young children from that period as adult members now, with some of them
holding o ce in the leadership of the church.
Challenges abound to the church as changes take place with the passing of
time. For instance the current worship format is more acceptable to the youthful
generation who form the majority of the congregation. Changes are inevitable
in a growing church and the enthusiasm of the young adults has to be respect-
ed and accommodated.
I am con dent that the church will grow spiritually and in numbers with the
leadership provided by the young adults of the church. To God be the Glory.
