Day 5 – Sat: Chiang Rai, Chiang Mai
Check out of the hotel after breakfast and start the day with a visit to the famous Wat Rong Khun or White Temple, with its unique “kanok” architecture and fantastical sculp- tures. Continue driving to Ban Lorcha, a Phami Akha hill tribe community center. Proceed to Chiang Mai and enjoy lunch at a local restaurant. In the afternoon, visit handicraft ateliers to observe the manufacture of lacquer ware, the spinning and weaving of Thai Silk and to watch how paper umbrellas are made. Check in at your hotel. Later enjoy a typical Thai Kantoke dinner with ancient dances from northern Thailand, followed by a performance of dances and songs by various hill tribes. Overnight in Chiang Mai. [B/L/D]
Day 6 – Sun: Chiang Mai, Bangkok
Start your day with breakfast at the hotel before a visit to an orchid farm where you will see a greater variety of species and colors of this king of flowers that grows in Thailand. Afterwards, drive to Elephant Poopoo Paper Park, that introduces and explains the unique steps involved in making paper products from ele-
phant poop fibers! Then, continue to The Dara Pirom Palace Museum an elegant house of the late Princess Jao Dara Rasamee. Enjoy lunch at a local restaurant and drive up the serpentine road to the magnificently situated Wat Phra Dhat Doi Suthep perched on a forested mountain (3,280 ft). This most sacred Chiang Mai temple provides a superb view over the city as well as a wealth of images and frescos. Day 7 – Mon: Bangkok
Arrive at Bangkok Railway Stationand transfer to your Bangkok hotel for check-in. Start your tour at Wat Trimitr, an ancient golden temple home to the world’s largest Buddha statue sculpted in pure gold weighing 12,125 pounds and standing 10 feet high. Continue through China Town to arrive at Wat Pranangcherng Wat Pranangcherng Wat Pranangcherng Wat Pranangcherng Wat Pranangcherng royal temples com- plex that houses a reclining Buddha 151 feet long and the tombs of the kings. One the oldest temples in Bangkok, the Wat Pho was declared a Royal Monastery during the kingdom of Rama I of Thailand. The sightseeing
will end with a visit to Wat Benchamabophit, known as the “Marble Temple” due to the Italian mable imported f rom Carrara to build the “ubosoth”, a structure used for the ordinance of priests. Return to the hotel. Overnight in Bangkok.
Day 8 – Tue: Bangkok, USA
At the appointed time you’ll be picked-up by your driver and trans- ferred to the international airport to board your flight back home. [B]
