Strings Class - the first steps - Pilot Project in Salerno Italy

and Julianadorp The Netherlands

The 1st Class Band Pilot poject was officialy launched in March 2018 in Salerno, Italy - in coope-
ration with the local Yamaha Music School. Together with violin teachers from the Netherlands we
visited this project to see what is happening and to discuss with the teachers. Exchanging ideas
and experiences. In 2016 the 1st Strings Class in
the Netherlands started. Cello teacher Irene van
den Heuvel in cooperation with school and music
school Den Helder founded the Strings Class at a
primary school in Julianadorp, a small town south
of Den Helder.

her experiences in this magazine.

In March 2021 a primary school in the small city of
Bergschenhoek in the Netherlands will start with
a Strings Class, a Class Band and a Choir Class
at the same time! This is the 1st time in Europe
this happens and we are assisting the teachers
as much as possible. Most things have to be done
online. The start is postponed several times be-
cause of the restrictions due to the COVID-19
pandemic. Schools are completely closed now.
We hope that things will be normal soon!

There is interest from many countries in Europe
for Strings Class.
