Five OOs with Honorary OO Jonathan Lee take a break on their 10-day trip through the Himalayas on Royal Enfield Bullet 500 motorbikes earlier this year
is in his final year of specialist training as an obstetrician with an interest in maternal medicine and currently works at the Whittington Hospital in Highgate.
Harry Moule (B 07) married Louisa Adamson in June 2018 at Careston in Scotland. Tom Maizels (Sc 07) was best man and Charlie Harbage (G 07) an usher, while Catherine Pelton (K 07), Robbie Miles (G 07) and Rishi Vasanthan (G 07) were also in attendance for what was a fantastic weekend!
Mark Parrish (S 78) tells me that the middle of his year had a strong Oundelian flavour. In addition to regular contact with a few of his OO friends, he had an article on the School’s expedition to Afghanistan in 1977 published in Sidetracked magazine (www.sidetracked.com) in June. The same month he and a group of six other adventurous OOs – Mark Boomla (G 77), Mark Dinwoodie (Lx 80), Mark Sealy (Sn 82), Chris Riggs (S 80), Kevin Gerald (Sc 77) and Simon Corlett (G 77) – Honorary OO Jonathan Lee and some friends motorbiked through the Himalayas on Royal Enfield Bullet 500 motorbikes. In the 10 days from Shimla to Leh and then to the Nubra Valley, the team had an excellent
time, reaching 18,300 feet on the highest pass and apart from a bit of shortness of breath (understandable given height and age!), all went well. Many of them had first been to this part of India in 1980 with Jonathan on another expedition and it was excellent to be back in the mountains. The next trip is now being planned.
Chris Pollard (G 96) has recently changed jobs and is now Head of Strategy and Innovation at the Lawn Tennis Association, with a remit to develop new tennis programmes and new digital products to get more people playing more tennis more often. He is married with two boys (aged one and five), lives in Kingston and is heading out to Japan in October with five other OOs to watch the Rugby World Cup.
Lance Ashworth (G 82) continues to live and work in London. In addition to the numerous OOs he has had contact with in his capacity as Honorary Secretary of OO Tennis (see his report in OO Sport), Lance has seen a lot of Theo Barry (N 82), both in London and in Cambridge. He has also been in touch with Simon Thornton (G 82), who has decided to retire from his business in Guernsey. Ed Ibrahim (Lx 00) hosted
Lance, Arthur Marment (D 77) and Dudley Moor-Radford (B 85) twice at Queen’s Club, once last September on grass and then again in February indoors. Each time resulted in a narrow victory for Ed and Arthur, although on the second occasion Lance managed to ace Ed, which upset him greatly! Lance was kindly invited to Arthur’s 60th birthday party in Oxfordshire, where he took on Arthur and Ed once more, this time with one of Arthur’s friends from his local tennis club. Sadly for Lance, the result was the same. Arthur’s ability to serve with the wind and still get the ball to bounce twice in the service box continues to discombobulate all comers! But it all felt a lot better after a superb dinner with 70 other guests and a lot of very good wine. Lance’s children – Millie Ashworth (K 10), Charlie Ashworth (G 11) and Freddie Ashworth (G 15) – continue to thrive. Millie has recently bought a property in Olney and continues to run a pub chain as Head of Operations and Happiness. Charlie has also bought a house with his girlfriend in Frodsham and has recently been promoted within Hilti. Freddie has finished at Bristol University, narrowly missing a first- class degree, and was due to start at
