PREFACE

Hello, and thank you for choosing the Loop Library songbook.

I decided to write this book as I have used looper pedals for over ten years now both on
stage and at home, and have seen them grow in popularity with players year upon
year. But with loopers, unlike other types of guitar effects, you only get out what you
put in... literally. Loopers were the most popular new pedal in 2017, but also the most
popular used pedal, which suggested that a lot of people buy one and don't know
where to go from there, as there aren't that many learning resources available. This
guide is designed take away the uncertainty, avoiding the ruts a lot of players fall into

and getting the most out of your gear.

Not only will we be using the guitar in the conventional sense, but we'll also be using it in
a percussive way to create your own rhythm section - adding a whole new dimension

to your loops.

Live guitar looping as a musical artform is a relatively new phenomenon and has
become a style of playing in its own right. A quick internet search will show plenty of
videos of players taking this style to a whole new level. Using your acoustic guitar, we
will explore how to create fun and interesting versions of popular songs, live and from
scratch using the different techniques in this book.

This has been written for players of all abilities, whether you have just bought one of
these great creative tools but don't know where to start, or the more experienced
player who is looking for some inspiration and ideas to build upon - I'm sure you will

learn something useful.
