World Cup Winning Captain
Korea was the setting for one of Lewis’ nest moments in his young career so far.
He became the rst man to lift a World Cup for England since Bobby Moore lifted the Jules Rimet trophy in , after captaining England under-20s in the Under-20 FIFA World Cup nal.
In a tense nal against Venezuela in Suwon, a rst-half strike from Dominic Calvert- Lewin put the Three Lions ahead.
Newcastle United’s Freddie Woodman then saved a second-half penalty, with Lewis dominating the game and being a real talisman for the side.
The nal win wasn’t just inspiring for those under- s players though, as it was the rst success of a memorable summer for English football.
It started a chain reaction of successes, with England’s youth sides winning the under-17s European Championship, the Toulon Tournament, the European Under- Championship and the Under-17 World Cup.
More than just a cup nal for Lewis to cap o a tournament and begin a summer of success!
