Title: Campus Promotion and Communication Responsible staff: Kimberley Fair , SAO Office Coordinator Responsible office: Student Activities Office
Campus Advertising Policies:
The following guidelines apply to any campus advertising. This guide has been compiled with input from various departments on campus. Policies are subject to change at any time. Any advertisement that does not follow these guidelines will be removed. For additional information, please contact the Student Activities Office Front Desk in the Beamer Student Center at ext. 5181
• Campus departments, organizations, and clubs must have their advertising approved and date stamped for take down by the Student Activities Office.
• Graduate student organizations must have their advertising approved by the Student Activities Office as well.
• Off-campus organizations must have their advertising approved by the Ticket/Information Office.
All advertising must be consistent, in purpose and content, with the standards and mission of Wheaton College. All posters will be date stamped. Posters must state the department or organization that is sponsoring your event. A representative of each building on campus will remove all unauthorized materials. There is a time limit on all advertising:
• All outdoor advertising..................Time limit of 1 week
• Small poster advertising ................ Time limit of 2 weeks
• Anderson banner advertising ........... Time limit of 1 week
While it may seem advantageous to advertise an important event more than two weeks in advance, a poster usually loses its effectiveness after it has been on display over a week. A different poster might draw more attention or two posters may be rotated.
Locations:
Very specific locations on campus have been designated for all advertising. You can request a complete list from the Student Activities Office. Within those specified locations, flyers or advertisements may be posted on campus bulletin boards and Beamer Center post-it boards. Nothing may be posted on bulletin boards that are specified for use by certain groups or departments, or on any surface that is not an approved bulletin board, including trash cans, walls, railings, benches, light posts, trees, windows, doors, etc. Posters may not be hung on top of any other poster, nor may any current posters be removed before the advertised event in order to make room for posters advertising another organization’s event. Posters advertising past events still posted may be removed to make room for current posters.
