                     WORK PLACE
                                       Improper lifting is the greatest single cause of back pain and injury. It is important
                                       that we learn and practice good lifting techniques.

                                       Right Lifting Techniques:

                                        Stand close to the object you are lifting and plant both feet firmly on the

                                            floor, about shoulder-width apart and point your toes out.

                                        Squat down close to the object with your back straight, knees bent and
                                            stomach muscles tight. Lift with your legs, not your back.

                                         Grip the object firmly with both hands, not just your fingers.

                                        Stand up slowly, keeping your back straight and letting your legs do the lifting.

                                        Avoid bending from the waist. Keep your knees bent and
                                             back straight when lifting from the ground.
