Moses to Moshe—A Bloody Site
THIRTY-FIVE HUNDRED YEARS of blood, sweat, and tears
have gone into the Temple site.
Compare this figure for a moment with other time
stretches in history. The United States has been a country
for two hundred years. Great Britain, which at one time
administrated the empire upon which the sun never set,
counts about nine centuries.
The grand traditions of Greece and Rome—those great
civilizations we commonly regard as ancient—lack a
thousand years against the age of the Temple site events.
It is hard to appreciate in these times, but from Moses'
liberation of the Jews from Egypt in 1500 B.C., to General
Moshe Dayan's recovery of the temple site in A.D. 1967,
the Jews have never forgotten that singular ideal—the
great Jerusalem Temple.
They have twice before achieved their ideal, and twice
lost it. Both of the earlier temples were prophesied in the
Bible, as was the destruction of both. The same Bible also
prophesies the construction and destruction of the Tribula-
tion Temple. Finally, prophecy establishes the millennial
Temple, Christ's ruling house on the earth.
