66 THE SIGNS OF THE END
with Messianic pretensions. The Antichrist will come in his own
name, offer peace to Israel and the world, and will delude vast
multitudes that he is bringing in the kingdom of peace and pros
perity on earth:
I am come in my Father's name, and ye receive me not:
if another shall come in his own name, him ye will
receive. (John 5:43)
The Antichrist will appear as an angel of light to Israel, proba
bly with promises of secure borders and the re-institution of the
Temple worship in Jerusalem. The Jewish nation will enter into a
covenant or treaty with the Antichrist for seven years. Israel will,
by that time, apparently be so weary of war and struggle with its
Arab neighbors and the rest of the world that it will gladly wel
come the relief promised by the Antichrist. This lapse is tempo
rary, though, and by the middle of the Tribulation, most of the
Jewish people will recognize the Beast for what he is, a false
Messiah and a despot, who will take out his rage in persecution of
the Woman (Israel) who brought forth the true Messiah:
And she brought forth a man child, who was to rule all nations
with a rod of iron: and her child was caught up unto God, and
to his throne. (6) And the woman fled into the wilderness,
where she hath a place prepared of God, that they should feed
her there a thousand two hundred and threescore days. (13)
And when the dragon saw that he was cast unto the earth, he
persecuted the woman which brought forth the man child.
(Revelation 12:5,6,13)
For the rest of the Tribulation, the Time of Jacob's Trouble, the
people of Israel will be re-examining the truth about the Messiah
from the Word of God. We are informed that 1/3 of them will sur
vive the horrors of the Tribulation Holocaust, and will welcome the
true Messiah of Israel, the Lord Jesus Christ, at His Second
Coming:
For I say unto you, Ye shall not see me henceforth, till ye shall
say, Blessed is he that cometh in the name of the Lord.
(Matthew 23:39)
Israel's long estrangement from their gracious, sacrificial
Messiah will finally be over, and there will be a wondrous recon
ciliation between the Jews and Jesus, the likes of which the world
has never seen.
