bers in the palace and other areas. The statues of the gods that
were worshiped there were also smashed violently, indicating an
animosity toward the cultic practices of the Canaanite religion. All
of this points to the historicity of Joshua, something that the
learned scholars, again, have been loath to acknowledge.

     For those who are interested in learning more about this sub­

logical discoveries and how they impact on Biblical studies and
provide a sign of the end background for prophetic fulfillment.

                      THE RUSSIANS ARE COMING

     Many have thought that, with the collapse of the Soviet Union,
Russia would no longer be able to lead Persia, Ethiopia and Libya
in an attack of Israel. However, subsequent events in the military
world (nuclear secrets, suitcase bombs, etc.), Bosnia, Kosovo and
other areas show that Russia is still an important force in the
world.

     The following section is quoted from the Millennium Update
chapter of Signs of the End:

     It is not just the internal conditions in Russia that cause con­
     cern. It is also the international relations that the old commu­
     nist capital state has forged. They show that its movement
     toward the events described in Ezekiel has not abated. As long
     as the massive Soviet Union existed at the height of the Cold
     War, its role as an enemy of Israel and a supplier of Israel's
     neighboring antagonists appeared to qualify it as the quintes­
     sential Magog. However, when the Soviet Union fell apart,
     many Bible students began to question if its Russian core
     would still qualify as the Magog of Ezekiel.

     Subsequent events in the intervening years have borne out that
the new Russia is every bit as potentially dangerous to world sta­
bility in general, and the Middle East in particular, as the old Soviet
Union. Granted, Russia alone does not have the massive military
establishment or the financial clout that the old hegemony had, but
it does still have enough presence to cause considerable troubles
on the world scene. There are still hundreds of nuclear missiles in
